IMD-2000 24GHz Radar Sensor: accurate distance detector<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Today security requires solutions that are easy to implement and integrate with video surveillance systems, as well as easy to program.<\/p>\n

Valued at 5.2 billion dollars globally in 2018, the motion sensor sector has grown from 993.7 million dollars in 2014 and is expected to grow further in the coming years. The widespread use of MEMS (Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems) technology has provided increasing miniaturization of motion-detection hardware, leading to a paradigm shift in the sector.<\/p>\n

Motion sensors are used in various applications: perimeter security systems, tsunami and earthquake warning systems, occupancy sensors for lighting, automatic door opening technologies, and intrusion detection sensors. The abbreviation IMD stands for “InnoSenT Motion Detector” and hints at the product’s function: to be a motion detector, but an unconventional one, thanks to new technological developments.<\/p>\n

1) Multiple ways of detecting movement<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The IMD-2000 is an FSK (Frequency-Shift Keying) Radar sensor with an intelligent \u03bcC pre-processing unit, that <\/strong>works in the 24 GHz ISM band <\/strong>and measures the distance, speed and direction<\/strong> of moving objects (up to 50m) and people (up to 15m).<\/p>\n

As a speed detector, with a range from 0.23km\/h to 28km\/h and a versatile field of view of 48\u00b0 (vertical) x 98\u00b0 (horizontal), it is the ideal solution for touchless control applications<\/strong> (ensuring hygiene standards for the current health emergency) in various sectors: security, automation, home appliances, smart home and construction. Some examples: security sensor, outdoor perimeter sensor, light on-off switching, door opener, healthcare\/hygiene applications (faucet activation, operating room door opening).<\/p>\n

Indeed, thanks to the intelligent \u03bcC pre-processing, the accurate distance information<\/strong> allows the detection area to be limited to a specific detection zone, which provides a better false alarm rate<\/strong> in various security applications. Some examples: for home appliances, the IMD-2000 ignores the speed of vehicles driving outside the property; for door openers at automatic ticket machines the sensor can ignore cross traffic.<\/p>\n
