SMR-343 motion radar sensor: bridging the gap between proven technology and modern security requirements
When security applications require high reliability standards, no compromises are possible. The new SMR-34 detector motion radar sensor SMR-343 from InnoSenT, distributed in Italy by Consystem, represents a significant advancement in security technology, combining the solid foundation of the established SMR product family with EN 50131 Grade 3 compliance.Built on a solid foundation
The SMR-343 motion radar detector uses a compact 24 GHz analog front-end with CW (Continuous Wave) technology: this proven radar architecture offers outstanding motion detection capabilities in a small footprint, ideal for high-volume security applications, where space efficiency and production scalability are essential. The possibility of EN 50131 Grade 3 security standard compliance also qualifies the sensor for high-risk environments, removing barriers to market entry.Designed to perform
The sensor’s performance specifications reflect its security-focused design philosophy. With a detection range of up to 15 meters and a field of view of 94 degrees in azimuth and 34 degrees in elevation, the SMR-343 provides full coverage for typical security scenarios. The built-in low-noise amplifier ensures accurate detection even in challenging conditions, maintaining the signal clarity needed for a reliable alarm. Thanks to its special antenna design, the sensor is also able to detect all types of intrusion attempts, not just those at standard height: it can in fact reliably detect people moving below the sensor’s installation point (often a blind spot in conventional systems) and, even more importantly, crawling intruders. Beyond simple presence detection, the sensor measures speed and direction, allowing security systems to distinguish between different types of movement and potentially filter out false alarms caused by environmental factors. The sensor maintains consistent performance under rain, snow, fog and total darkness, conditions that can compromise camera-based or passive infrared systems. The solid-state nature of radar technology also reduces maintenance, cutting operating costs over the long term. The SMR-343 detects motion and presence without capturing visual information, ensuring GDPR compliance and eliminating privacy concerns related to the use of video systems. Compatible with SMT (Surface Mount Technology) processes and supplied on tape & reel, it enables automated high-volume production with minimal handling costs. Its compact dimensions allow integration into enclosures with limited space without compromising performance.

Versatile application potential
While compliant with the EN 50131 Grade 3 standard for professional intrusion detection systems, the SMR-343 sensor can also be used in industrial automation, access control and area monitoring, as well as in security applications for perimeters or restricted areas. Its ability to penetrate non-metallic materials also enables hidden installations, where aesthetics or the need for discreet security make visible sensors undesirable.Datasheet – Key specifications
