Embedded smart display solutions integrated with SOM MPU boards

CONSYSTEM presents to the Italian market Powertip’s new smart display solutions (with SOM MPU boards). Powertip’s smart displays are developed on ARM Cortex-A9/A17 architecture with 2 GB RAM in DDR3L configuration and Flash memory in sizes ranging from 8 GB to 32 GB, with the option of using an Evaluation Kit for rapid product development. These solutions are the result of Powertip’s more than thirty years of experience (a leading Taiwanese company in the display sector) in the TFT field, combined with the integration of new embedded technologies.

Powertip’s embedded solutions offer, in fact, the ability to interface with other devices via a large number of peripherals such as: UART, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, MIPI SDIO, MIPI CSI (for high-resolution 4K, Full HD cameras), CAN, GPIO, SDIO, I2S, PCIe, and the ability to display various activities via Full HD (1920×1080) TFT displays equipped with multitouch capacitive touch screens (up to 10 points). ARM processors guarantee high performance with reduced power consumption, optimizing efficiency in any working condition. The MIPI SDIO interface allows two displays to be connected simultaneously, thus offering the possibility of using an additional remote screen; expanding product development possibilities (industrial and otherwise) as well as maximizing design efficiency while simplifying the design.

Furthermore, the MCU operating platforms Linux (Yocto, Debian and Ubuntu distributions) and Android, together with the Buildroot development tool, guarantee extreme versatility, reliability, rapid development and production scalability. Visualization of ongoing operations is also ensured thanks to the numerous available display interfaces: HDMI, LVDS, MIPI DSI, eDP, Parallel TTL RGB. Another distinctive feature of Powertip’s embedded solutions (Smart display + SOM MPU) is the possibility of a free download of the BSP (board support package), which, together with the manufacturer’s guarantee (for support/maintenance/system updates over time), ensures a long product lifespan across a wide variety of applications.

Powertip’s embedded solutions are characterized by a high degree of mechanical integration, ensuring compact dimensions, as the board sizes do not exceed the outline dimensions of the displays (available in 5”, 7”, 10.1”, 23.8” sizes). The high brightness of the displays, with values of 800/850 cd/m² and adjustable PWM (Pulse Width Modulation), together with the operating temperature range (-20°C to +70°C), also make these solutions suitable for use in industrial environments (both indoor and outdoor).
