IMD-2000 24GHz Radar Sensor: accurate distance detector

IMD-2000 Radar sensor: motion, speed and distance detector
1) Multiple ways of detecting movement
The IMD-2000 is an FSK (Frequency-Shift Keying) Radar sensor with an intelligent μC pre-processing unit, that works in the 24 GHz ISM band and measures the distance, speed and direction of moving objects (up to 50m) and people (up to 15m).
As a speed detector, with a range from 0.23km/h to 28km/h and a versatile field of view of 48° (vertical) x 98° (horizontal), it is the ideal solution for touchless control applications (ensuring hygiene standards for the current health emergency) in various sectors: security, automation, home appliances, smart home and construction. Some examples: security sensor, outdoor perimeter sensor, light on-off switching, door opener, healthcare/hygiene applications (faucet activation, operating room door opening).
Indeed, thanks to the intelligent μC pre-processing, the accurate distance information allows the detection area to be limited to a specific detection zone, which provides a better false alarm rate in various security applications. Some examples: for home appliances, the IMD-2000 ignores the speed of vehicles driving outside the property; for door openers at automatic ticket machines the sensor can ignore cross traffic.

Simple programming
The IMD-2000 can be installed easily and configured quickly, without the need for specific Radar expertise, thanks to the GUI software (Graphical User Interface) evaluation kit for system configuration, the plug-and-play capability and the integrated internal signal configuration unit, which analyzes the Radar data (intelligent μC pre-processing unit).
The IMD-2000 offers highly effective application performance, such as individual configuration of the detection field (the range can be modified via the GUI software), signal strength and speed range. In addition, the product also provides additional data such as ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) and Radar signal strength, communicating this information as a target list via a UART interface (Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter).

Compact size
Moreover, the IMD-2000’s small, compact size (24 x 20 x 12mm) makes it easy to implement into existing products, covers or housings, with limited space and without the need for further redesign work, adapting in the best possible way to the various customer needs.

Operation in harsh environments and adverse weather conditions/privacy compliance
The IMD-2000 Radar sensor has an operating temperature range from -30°C to +80°C. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, it ensures full operation in adverse weather conditions (poor visibility, rain, fog).
Moreover, the Radar system ensures full privacy compliance thanks to anonymous monitoring.
