IMD-2002: the new radar module that determines the position (distance and angle) of a moving target
The IMD-2002 is a 24GHz FSK radar sensor (Frequency-Shift Keying) developed by InnoSenT that integrates a pre-processing unit and measures the speed, direction, distance and angle of moving targets (motion sensor). Features that translate, for this motion detector, into the ability to pinpoint the exact position of the person or object that is moving. Specifically, the IMD-2002’s detection distance reaches 50m for slow vehicles and 16m for people, and can be adapted depending on the final application.

The compact, small size of the IMD-2002 radar sensor (30 x 30 x 12.7mm) makes it easy to integrate into existing products, covers or housings, taking up minimal space. In addition, it can be installed and configured immediately thanks to the evaluation kit, which allows testing without the need to develop any dedicated hardware/software.
Designed for outdoor use, the IMD-2002 adapts to any weather and lighting conditions (day/night) thanks to its wide operating temperature range, has an anti-masking function and can be preconfigured to define specific alarm zones and minimize false alarms. This radar sensor also includes a digital signal processing unit that communicates information via UART (serial) in the form of a target list.
In terms of applications, the IMD-2002 is a highly versatile solution suited to multiple fields: security and intrusion detection, building automation, door opener, proximity detection, escalator control, e-mobility.
The IMD-2002 radar module represents a further step forward in intrusion sensing, no longer limited to simple motion detection but capable of pinpointing the intruder’s position.
