CONSYSTEM is pleased to announce the availability of the new 24GHz SMR-334 module by Innosent, a leading German company in the sector, the first TRUE radar for indoor and outdoor “motion detection and ranging” applications.
The SMR-334 module has extremely compact dimensions (21.4 x 15 mm) and, unlike today’s sensor technology based on Doppler technology used by most microwave systems for motion detection, it leverages FMCW technology (Frequency-Modulated Continuous-Wave Radar), which enables precise and effective ranging, detecting within the area of interest the various presences (“presence”), their movements (“motion”) and the actual distance from the radar (“ranging”).
This technology makes it possible to identify and distinguish real threats from false alarms, even in adverse environmental and weather conditions such as rain, fog, and at night, while at the same time solving any privacy issues associated with the use of video cameras.
To facilitate the hardware and software development of new designs based on the SMR-334 module, Consystem and Innosent provide the “EVALKIT SMR-334”, a compact, programmable, intuitive and easy-to-use platform that represents an excellent basis for developing new FMCW radar sensors.
The kit consists of a Radar Front-End based on the SMR-334 and an underlying STM32F401RE core board, powered via USB cable, which provides the processing power and the interface needed to display received signals, both via IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) and GUI (Graphic User Interface).
The kit is supplied with “open”, customizable firmware (source code), which makes it possible to change the radar settings and signal processing in various configurations by modifying and uploading the source code to the microcontroller board.
