iSYS-5021 What is it? Technical characteristics

iSYS-5021 is a 3D MIMO (Multiple in Multiple Out) radar operating in the 24 GHz-ISM band with integrated tracking function (Smart Tracking).
It reduces signal processing workload and follows the movement of multiple objects simultaneously.
The radar anonymously detects the exact position, distance, speed, presence, and direction of movement of objects and people.
The target list can interface with other ethernet or SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) peripherals.
iSYS-5021 has an extremely wide detection area (29,500 m²) thanks to its range of 150 m and FOV (Field of View) of ± 75°.
Furthermore, Smart Tracking allows radar detections to be grouped by combining individual detections together and describing them as a track, facilitating data analysis and system integration.
It is a solution with compact dimensions (102 x 77 x 12mm) featuring a UART interface.

The iSYS-5021 radar system boasts an advanced Smart Tracker localization function, which, through filters and classification, combines radar detections with tracked data (tracks) and enables anonymous monitoring of relevant events, thus providing end users with useful information (see Fig. 2).

The solution can provide information on the movement behavior of up to a maximum of 20 people simultaneously. Tracks continue to be recorded even if a person briefly stops moving, changes posture, or starts crawling. Irrelevant objects or interfering factors are ignored by the radar system. End users can also individually define alarm triggers and monitor a specific detection area (Danger Zone). The Smart Tracker guarantees wide coverage with a detection area of 29,500 m².

Moreover, thanks to the Smart Tracking license, customers gain access to the Smart Tracker and the grouping of RADAR system data. Without the Tracking License, customers must evaluate the raw data themselves and decide which of the many radar detections are relevant. With the “tracking license,” the development work for signal processing and correct data evaluation becomes easier and more immediate.
The iSYS-5021 also offers the possibility of “viewing” a “history” of monitored targets and areas.

Easy implementation and integration with CCTV security systems

iSYS-5021 was designed to ensure easy integration with other security systems such as CCTV: while RADAR technology detects anonymously and in an individually configurable detection area, the CCTV system provides high-resolution images, for a complete and efficient analysis scenario (see Fig. 3).
For this purpose, a useful function proves valuable in focusing on the potential danger: the Smart Tracker can in fact move the field of view of the security camera toward a specific target identified in the alarm zone.

Ultimately, the new iSYS-5021 series guarantees security equipment manufacturers a significant competitive advantage, both thanks to the proprietary 3D MIMO technology – with precise angular resolution on which the Smart Tracker is developed – and thanks to a “minimized” time-to-market phase, capable of meeting the market’s increasingly fast-paced needs.
